Australia has expressed interest in cooperating with Bangladesh in sports and technical education.
Julian Hill, Australian assistant minister for citizenship, customs, multicultural affairs and international education, conveyed this during a meeting with Mahdi Amin, adviser to the prime minister and PMO spokesperson, at the Secretariat today, according to a press release.
Susan Tyle, Australian high commissioner to Bangladesh, was also present.
The press release said Hill expressed interest in vocational education alongside sports and technical education. He also sought information on the challenges and long‑term plans of Bangladesh’s education sector.
Highlighting youth employment as a priority, Mahdi Amin outlined government initiatives including technical and vocational education, technology‑based primary education, and the inclusion of sports and cultural subjects in the new curriculum.
Discussions also covered expanding collaboration between Australian and Bangladeshi universities, creating opportunities for Bangladeshi students in Australia, developing a skilled workforce, and tapping labour market prospects.
Officials from Australia’s departments of education, home affairs, foreign affairs and trade were part of the delegation.
