Accused church shooter seen wearing Trump shirt

Welcome to our live coverage of Monday, Australia time, in US politics.

At least four people have been killed and eight others wounded, including children, in a mass shooting at a Mormon church in the US state of Michigan.

Police said a 40-year-old man, identified as Thomas Jacob Sanford, rammed his vehicle through the front doors of the Church of Latter-day Saints, in Grand Blanc Township, and began firing at people inside with an assault rifle about 10.25am on Sunday, local time.

Authorities believe the gunman deliberately set fire to the church before he was killed by responding police.

US President Donald Trump has condemned the “horrendous” attack, saying it “appears to be yet another targeted attack on Christians”.
